Spotted trend

I seen it you probably have too. It is called the “Sideways Cross Necklace”, very popular out there , almost every celebrity you can name have one of this and it is perhaps a best seller, But as cute as it is I have a problem with it. Allow me to explain. The Cross, the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified was upright, it was never sideways. Some of us might see no difference and think it is just a “trendy necklace” but if you are using it trying to show your Faith with it, as I think most people who have it do, the issue is that the cross is sideways, not upright, and that could mean a lot of things.

Number one, it could be the enemy trying to make mockery of the cross of Jesus, saying that it couldn’t stay upright for long and now is down. Number two, it could be a way of the enemy to disguise something to mean something else, like for example, you know that whether at church or at a cemetery you as a Christian and maybe not even as a Christian, you see a cross that is sideways, you immediate response is to put it upright. And Number three is that when churches get vandalize and destroyed normally the assaulters push down the cross because they want to do destruction or maybe is because seeing the cross upright causes them anger. (Pay attention)

I understand that we as Christians are not to have symbols or idols. The cross on where Jesus was crucified was never put sideways. And one big point is that if we as Christians are interested in following trends, when in the Bible clearly stays on Jeremiah 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: I am a Fashion Designer and being a Christian I know that about 90% of the trends out there are not being designed for Christians to wear, the Fashion Industry is not inspired by God, and we must understand that.

The enemy is desperate, because he is loosing time, he deceives many and I personally believe that we should all wake up and see the big picture. The sideways cross is not a symbol of the cross of Jesus Christ. Another point is that this necklace is called in some places the “fallen cross”, that to me is disturbing. I am not attacking anyway the designer or anyone who perhaps don’t see it that way, what I am saying is that the enemy will use many tricks into make you believe that what you have is ok because it has an “appearance” of your Faith.

Another explanation of this I found on the Internet was “The meaning of the sideways cross necklace is that because our sins are as far as the East is to the West when the cross is sideways that is what represents and how much Jesus loved us to die upon the Cross” They have put it sideways because it makes it longer, since the East and the West is a long ways away. I think that explanation is being used to explain the sideways cross using a verse from the Bible Psalms 103:12 but in reality the cross was never used sideways.

In conclusion, my mind was unsettled the first time I saw it, I became even more concern when I saw how many celebrities wear it, especially people who never ever mention Jesus, we must remember that sometimes what is popular in the world is not popular in front of God. We are in this world but not of it.
